Teresa, singer-songwriter
Teresa is an experienced and talented singer, and songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. Teresa is a 7-time winner of the National Association of Campus Activities Country Entertainer of the Year. Teresa gets up close and personal with all of her audiences as she makes her way through the crowd singing, talking, laughing, and sharing stories. Her great music and personality come through with each show. Teresa is a real pro and it shows every time she takes the stage and entertains her guests. Biography Singer-songwriter, TERESA, who uses only her first name, has won 7 N.A.C.A. (National Association of Campus Activitie) College Entertainment Awards including Coffeehouse Entertainer of the Year. She has delivered her original music to more than 1000 campuses earning her living while cultivating a grass roots following by taking her songs to the college crowd. She has toured the 48 contiguous United States, Europe and Australia, on her own and opened shows for dozens of national recording artists. Teresa completed two years of academic studies at the University of Connecticut at Storrs, but decided one college was not enough! So she took her solo show to campuses across the United States! After a few recording trips to Nashville and upon urging from several prominent players, Teresa made the move permanent in 1989. She spent her first two years touring extensively. Combined with the college, coffee house, fair and festival tour dates and the songwriting showcases at prestigious Nashville venues and events, Teresa caught the ears of publishers and record executives. In 1993 she landed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music and in 1997 she signed with Sony Music/Epic Records. Teresa left Sony soon after the Vice President of the label, also poised to be her Producer, left. But that did not slow down this "can-do" success story. "This is a girl with gigantic reservoirs of resourcefulness, personality, spunk and ability. When it comes to music, Teresa is an unstoppable force of nature," says, music historian, Robert Oermann. After seeing Teresa live it is easy to see why she is a favorite on the college circuit. Her shows are powerful yet intimate. She eliminates all the boundaries between herself and her audience. In 2003, Teresa completed her studio CD, BRAVE NEW GIRLS, with the help of Adam Mitchell and superstar Linda Ronstadt for her record producers, and Ronstadt on back-up vocals. Mervin Louque, of King Biscuit Flower Hour fame, and owner of the prestigious Nashville music industry showcase venue, the Douglas Corner Café, produced Teresa's upcoming release, TEARS AND SMILES, which he recorded live at his club. Both CDs will be released simultaneously on Teresa's own imprint, BNM Records. According to Country Music Magazine, "Teresa shares a lot of the qualities of Linda Ronstadt's pioneering early work, most notably, its blend of country's lyrical strengths, catchy pop melodies and cutting edge rock energy." Says Maverick Magazine, "...Teresa possesses one of those lush, sultry voices that can wrap itself around a song and make it an event." TERESA's voice is a perfect blend of strength and vulnerability, sensuality and spirituality. It conveys her songs with pure artistry and raw honesty. TERESA, BRAVE NEW GIRLS was recently picked up for distribution by Universal Records / Germany covering the European, Scandinavian, and United Kingdom Territories. The title track debuted in outer space as the wake-up song for the first female commanded Space Shuttle Mission in history, with a launch date back here on earth late this year! Teresa's is a story of determination, hard work and perseverance, but she tells it with such gusto and humor that the whole thing seems like one effortless romp. |
