When you are at a Steve Russell show you are amazed at his skill at juggling. With those long arms and strange configurations, it is amazing to see what he can actually do. But what is really funny is to listen to the banter. With an extremely quick wit, lots of great lines, Steve makes you think, but also more importantly, really makes you laugh. He is a former Ringling Brothers clown college instructor, and a long time cruise ship performer who now makes his home in Wisconsin. Steve likes to think of his show as “Juggling as if the Audience Matters” In every show, he works to relate to the individual people in the audience -- it is sort of a conversation, although Steve does almost all of the talking. He think of it more as a comedy-variety show than as juggling. His challenge has always been to make people interested in what was, essentially, his hobby. What makes it fun? Steve is very willing to laugh at himself and put himself in absurd situations. Great entertainment for families and corporate events, the Steve Russell show is a wonderful show that definitely should be checked out. Fast Facts About Steve Russell: Steve was born and raised in Menomonie, WI, and after high school began to live a life on the road and has been performing professionally since 1978. Steve attended UW-Stout, where he studied psychology. Additionally, he has an MFA (Master of Fun Arts) from Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Clown College. Some of his career highlights are spending 12 years on cruise ships around the world, visiting Europe, South America, Africa, and the South Pacific. For two years, he was on the faculty of Ringling Brothers Clown College where he taught juggling, unicycling, and clowning. His travels have taken him to all 50 states, and he has performed in 33 of them. Steve’s professional touring has taken him to more than 35 foreign countries. Steve has appeared on the Disney Channel, Good Morning America and NBC's The Tonight Show starring Jay Leno, has opened for the 5th Dimension, performed for the Royal Family of Spain, and performed a private show for Ron Howard and his family. What’s the best thing about being a performer? "I love helping people to laugh. The importance of laughter is often overlooked in our fast-paced times. I enjoy surprising people with how much fun a live show can be. I also enjoy the fact that my career allows me to travel so much.” Favorite Hobbies? “I enjoy reading, spending time with my family. It seems that every hobby I pursue ends up on stage. (My hobbies used to be juggling and magic!)” Anything unique about your act? Steve is certified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.
