In Capable Hands, a husband and wife comedy duo with eye-catching skills and off-center comic flair, are favorites wherever they perform. This innovative comedy juggling team is featured at fairs, festivals, and corporate events, as well as by cruise lines, Disney World, and Atlantic City. Trained by Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, they are seasoned pros with their own brand of fresh, distinctive humor.

While juggling is the core of the show, their performances feature a wide variety of skills. As a sort of present-day vaudeville act, Steve Russell and Kobi Shaw weave top-notch technique and quick-witted banter creating a show of genuine hilarity filled with flying pizzas, juggled canned meat, pink flamingos vanishing bananas, impaled potatoes, and music played by pounding their heads. Fast Facts About In Capable Hands

Kobi was born in White Plains, NY, but moved to Ridgefield, CT at 9 months. She moved to New York City when she attended NYU and continued to live in NYC for several years before moving to Seattle, and then Wisconsin. Kobi graduated from NYU with BFA's in Drama and in Broadcast Journalism. She trained at Circle In The Square (New York City). She also attended Ringling Brothers Clown College.

Steve was born and raised in Menomonie, WI, and after high school, began to live a life on the road. Steve attended UW-Stout, where he studied psychology. Additionally, he has an MFA (Master of Fun Arts) from Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Clown College. Additionally, Steve is certified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.

In Capable Hands has been performing together since 1996. Some of their career highlights are their performances at the Medora Musical, their work with the Ringling Brothers Company, and touring with their 90-minute theater show. As an act, they have opened for the 5th Dimension. In addition, Kobi has acted with Nanette Fabray, Jose Ferrar and Dick Van Dyke, and Steve has performed with Penn and Teller and has done shows for Ron Howard and the Royal Family of Spain.

How many countries, and how many states, have you performed in to date? In Capable Hands has visited all 50 states and have performed in 33 of them. They have also performed in more than 35 foreign countries.

What are your favorite hobbies?
Kobi loves skating and musical theater.
Steve enjoys reading and loves words.

Any other unique or fun facts about your act?
Kobi has worked as a skater, actor, singer and was the most un-hip receptionist that MTV ever had.

Steve is a Clinical Hypnotherapist who works with clients on weight loss, smoking cessation and pain management.

In order to give you the best performance possible, In Capable Hands provides the following information to the purchaser:

  • This act requires an electrical outlet and a stage area 14 feet wide by 10 feet deep.  Ceiling height is NOT an issue. If the performers can stand up, they can do the show.  Access between stage and audience is essential for audience participation.
  • If meals are being served at the event, please arrange that no meals are served or clean up being done during the performance.

For theatrical venues, In Capable Hands requests the following:

  • Artists prefer general stage lighting with a bright stage. Artists like to see the audience, so house lighting is important. For the most part, however, there are no special lighting requirements.
  • Artists provide their own sound system.
